Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.

About One Paper Soul Mixed Media Art
I use handmade paper, found objects, text, sketches, paint, and ink--almost anything I can get my hands on--to assemble original mixed media collage art. I am fascinated by color and texture, and I love creating one of a kind art that tells a story.
I dabbled with Decoupage as a teenager, but I really fell in love with the art form in 2014 after visiting a restaurant in Scotland called Collage. The walls were filled with the most amazing original artwork and I was struck by how the artists' used different forms, images, and materials to make a new whole. I've been experimenting ever since!
The art of adhering paper and text to other surfaces extends back to ancient China, soon after the invention of paper. Chinese Buddhist monks then brought this ancient art form--known as “Chigiri-e” meaning to tear art-- to Japan in the seventh century.
The more popular word “collage”–- from the French verb coller, meaning to stick-– was first used to describe the early twentieth century work of artists such as Pablo Picasso.
I use these techniques of tearing, cutting, and pasting as a way of reimagining and combining on a page the tangible materials of the outside world and elements of my interior world.
These are just a few of the mixed media pieces and paintings made by my one paper soul
